The study found that 82% of those visited would support implementing strict caps on how much landlords can increase residential rents. Additionally, two-thirds of respondents, or 67%, indicated they would support raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires to help fund public infrastructure and community relief.
The dissatisfaction is not limited to economics; immigration policy remains a highly volatile issue. The report highlights that 58% of respondents are disappointed with current immigration policies, while another 19% described themselves as outright angry. This sentiment comes as the Miami office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) leads the nation in immigration arrests during Donald Trump’s second presidential term, recording over 41,000 detentions since early 2025.
The polling was conducted in person between March and June 2026, reaching 2,381 Latino residents in their homes. The sample included individuals born in Cuba, Nicaragua, Colombia, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico, as well as those born in the United States. Miami-Dade County represents a unique demographic landscape, where 70% of the population is Hispanic and 54% of residents were born abroad—the highest percentage of foreign-born residents of any county in the country.
